Week one of June kicks off with a myriad of outdoor activities, beginning with an open house at Rider Park and ending with a circus coming to Lycoming County.

Rider Park Open House
Grab friends and family and head to Rider Park for its annual open house aimed at connecting with nature and enjoying outdoor activities. Food vendors will be available.
All open house parking will be at the Eldred Township Volunteer Fire Co., 5556 Warrensville Road, starting at 11:30 AM. From this site, a shuttle service will transport guests to Rider Park.

Hughesville Carnival
The Hughesville Carnival is hosted by the Hughesville Volunteer Fire Department. It runs the span of the week and will feature a plethora of food, pet and automobile parades as well as a fireman’s parade on the last day. Proceeds benefit the fire department.

The Hundred Dresses Project: We Are All In This Together
Eleanor Estes’ classic children’s book, The Hundred Dresses, is the story of an immigrant schoolgirl who is teased by her classmates for her accent, name, clothes, and her family’s poverty. The book explores themes of acceptance, inclusion, art, empathy, and finding the courage to stand up for what is right. This exhibition was created by artist Crystal Cawley who was inspired by Estes’ book. She sent over 150 artists a 14 x 11” letterpress dress print and invited them to read the book and create a dress related to the story. The Penn College Gallery will feature over 1,300 student creations from area schools.

A Real Circus under the Big Top is coming to Hughesville with one performance at the Lycoming County Fairgrounds on Friday and another at the Lycoming Mall on Saturday.

11th Annual Blues-A-Thon
The Uptown Music Collective Blues-A-Thon is a two-day fundraising and performance event that uses the Blues as a platform for young musicians to have the opportunity to interact and learn from each other, their teachers, area musicians, and a nationally known Blues musician. While also raising money for the nonprofit school through a “relay for life” type of fundraising format.

5K Run for Kids-Kiwanis Club of Williamsport
The Kiwanis Club of Williamsport will hold its 14th annual 5K Run for Kids to benefit local children’s charities. The race starts at the Genetti Hotel. Registration begins at 4 p.m. in the lobby. Awards for 1st place Male and Female runners overall. 1st-3rd place Male and Female in each group and 1st-3rd place Male and Female walkers overall.

2019 “Streat” Food Truck Festival
The 3rd annual “Streat” Food Truck Festival celebrates the food truck phenomenon sweeping the nation and features the incredible talent of some of the region’s greatest food truck/trailer/cart chefs. This year the event will be held in downtown Williamsport at Mid-Town Landing behind Trade & Transit II. There will be live music, adult beverages, activities for children and we will be hosting the 2nd “Chopped” style competition between 4 of the attending vendors.
