For three months of the year, Tim Milholin’s passion for sugar making consumes most of his daily life.
Running 4,000 feet of tubing, tapping numerous trees, collecting up to 1,500 gallons of sap and waiting several hours for each batch to boil is what Milholin calls a “labor of love.”
He has been a maple sugar hobbyist for about eight years, and this year set up his sugar bush at Camp Susque just outside Trout Run, Pennsylvania. Milholin has made 22 gallons of maple syrup so far.
