The Lycoming County commissioners approved $625,000 for three of Williamsport’s low-income housing rehabilitation programs during their meeting on Tuesday morning.
The PA Housing Affordability and Rehabilitation Enhancement program is funded through natural gas impact fees, which are collected by the state and then returned to the county.
“It was a blessing to have the oil and gas industry in our backyards,” said Commissioner Tony Mussare. “These are just an example of what this has brought to Lycoming County.”
The following Williamsport programs funded are:
- Vote on Amendment to Agreement with City of Williamsport for Brodart Neighborhood Improvement Program in the amount of $200,000. 2015 PHARE funds.
- Vote on Amendment to Agreement with the City of Williamsport for Historic Properties Rehabilitation Program in the amount of $225,000. 2016 PHARE funds. This is to help both rental and owner-occupied housing rehabilitation across the city.
- Vote on Amendment to Agreement with the City of Williamsport for Park Avenue Neighborhood Rental Rehabilitation Program in the amount of $200,000. 2019 PHARE funds.

- This is a renewal of the agreement between the county and the city of Williamsport for emergency dispatch services.
