Wolf pitches severance tax to fund Williamsport levee project

Gov. Tom Wolf stopped in Williamsport Friday to hear a briefing from Lycoming County on the hefty price tag attached to the recertification of the levee protecting Williamsport and the surrounding municipalities – a roughly $12 million project.

Wolf is proposing that a severance tax on the gas industry could be used to fund projects like the levee.

This is Wolf’s second attempt to introduce a severance tax, which he is proposing as a source of funding for his $4.5 billion infrastructure plan in the state.
