Poems of a Recovering Addict: He stomped on her heart

He stomped on her heart

Until it shattered

Broke her completely

Like she never mattered

Cared not that

She could never recover

And made it impossible

To give herself to another

It’s as if he takes pride

In what he’d done

Almost like

He actually had fun

Even though she’s put him in the past

The impressions he’s made

Will always last

Forever cautious

Of who she brings near

Because letting someone in

Is now her biggest fear.
