Events: North Pole Express, Festival of Lights, Nutcracker

The first week of December kicks off with below-freezing temperatures and a mix of snow and ice. The end of the week will rise up to the low 40s, just in time for some outdoor winter markets and the annual Festival of Lights in Brandon Park. See some of the week’s key highlights here.

2019 North Pole Express Holiday Train Ride Bloomsburg

Limited number of Caboose rides available. The Caboose seats 15 and includes hot chocolate.

Along with street parking. NO parking in Sherwin Williams parking lot. Arrive approximately 30 minutes before your scheduled train ride. The train departs from Sherwin Williams in Bloomsburg and travels west, towards Danville, for approximately two miles past the Rupert Covered Bridge. It follows the same route on its return trip to Bloomsburg. 

  • When: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Sunday to Wednesday) 
  • Where: Sherwin Williams Parking Lot 
  • Cost: $12.00. ($14.36 with fees)

A Heartland Christmas by the Susquehanna Heartland Wine Trail

You look forward to going home for Christmas, and this year, the Susquehanna Heartland Wine Trail wants to give you that same special holiday feeling. This Heartland Christmas, we welcome you into our wineries and celebrate tradition with unique hand-made ornaments. Each winery will have their own unique ornaments and personalities to help celebrate the holiday.

It’s a Wonderful Life

On Christmas Eve in 1945, George Bailey contemplates giving everything up when his business and family are suddenly wrapped in scandal. Out of nowhere, Clarence Oddbody – Angel Second Class – appears and saves George’s life, taking him on a journey of a world where George Bailey never existed. This Christmas classic is one of the greatest films of all time, now coming to life on the CTL stage.

Billtown Comedy Fest Founders Show

You read it correctly! Your eyes are not deceiving you, the coordinators of the Billtown Comedy Festival are going to put their money where their mouth is and perform some comedy for you!

On Saturday, December 7th the five fest founding comedians will be getting on stage at Arthaus Projects to tickle your funny bone to help raise funds for the upcoming Billtown Comedy Festival that will be held April 17-19 2020.

Festival of Lights Ft. the Open Air Holiday Market

The annual Festival of Lights in Brandon Park will take place on Friday, December 6th from 5 – 8 PM. The Park trees will be illuminated with twinkling lights, there will be musical and dance performances, meet and greet with characters, ice sculpting, music, wagon rides, visits with Santa Claus and more! In addition we will be hosting the Open Air Holiday Market. Which will consist of artisan/craft and food vendors. be sure to bring your camera to capture those special moments. Loyalsock Holiday Parade

The Loyalsock Township Recreation Department is teaming up with the Loyalsock Township Fire Company to organize this year’s holiday parade. The parade will start at 1:30pm on December 7, 2019.

The parade will begin at the Loyalsock Middle School then turn left onto Loyalsock Drive, right onto Richard Avenue, left onto Lincoln Drive, right onto Westminster Drive, right onto Sheridan Street, right onto Northway Road, and end back at the Loyalsock Middle School.

The Nutcracker

The Community Arts Center, Lycoming College, and Saint John’s School of the Arts present the timeless classic: The Nutcracker!

The Community Arts Center, Lycoming College, and Saint John’s School of the Arts have joined forces once again to present the classic holiday tradition of The Nutcracker. This production of The Nutcracker will feature LIVE music by Lycoming College students and local musicians, as well as a completely LOCAL intergenerational talent for the entire production, involving over 200 artists of all ages. The cast will include 112 dancers age 4 to adult. The production is a great example of how teaching art, music, and the performing arts develops talent and self-esteem for our youth. All ages are involved in this structured program which provides a rare and powerful example of a healthy pursuit that they can carry throughout one’s lifetime.

Dickens of a Christmas 2019 Celebration Indoor Craft Show
